LEADERSHIP SPRING BREAK WORKSHOP

For our new execs!

Trailblaze Youth Leadership Workshop Recap

Building the Future of Trailblaze Youth

At Trailblaze Youth, we believe that strong leadership is the foundation of every impactful initiative. That’s why we recently held a leadership workshop to bring our executive team together, align our vision, and set clear goals for the future. This workshop wasn’t just about logistics—it was about fostering collaboration, refining our mission, and ensuring that everyone on our team felt confident in their roles.

What We Covered

🔥 Executive Roles & Responsibilities – One of the most important aspects of leadership is clarity. We discussed each executive’s role, outlining specific responsibilities and expectations. By ensuring that everyone understands their contributions, we can operate efficiently and make a greater impact.

🔥 Website & Biographies – As we continue to grow, having a strong online presence is key. We talked about updating our website to reflect our new team members and ensuring that our biographies showcase not just who we are, but why we’re passionate about Trailblaze Youth.

🔥 Setting Goals – Every great leader needs a vision. We brainstormed both short-term and long-term goals, focusing on how we can expand our reach, improve our workshops, and create more learning opportunities for youth. One of our key takeaways was the importance of measurable goals—ones we can track and celebrate as we achieve them.

🔥 Athletes in Leadership (AIL) Workshop – One of our upcoming initiatives is the Athletes in Leadership workshop, an event designed to empower student-athletes by helping them recognize their leadership potential on and off the court. We discussed the logistics, planned the structure, and explored ways to make it an engaging and meaningful experience for participants.

🔥 How We Can Help! – We ended our discussion by brainstorming ways to extend our support to more youth. Whether it’s providing mentorship, creating more hands-on learning opportunities, or expanding into new areas, we are committed to making Trailblaze Youth a space for growth and empowerment.

Upcoming Initiatives

Krispy Kreme Fundraiser – Fundraising is essential to keeping our workshops accessible and impactful. We’re planning a Krispy Kreme fundraiser to help cover costs for materials, venue rentals, and future initiatives. This is also a chance for us to help fund local camps for underprivileged families who are interested in sending their children to an educational camp.

Women’s Appreciation Month: The Scrunchie Campaign – In honor of Women’s Appreciation Month, we’re launching a campaign where we encourage people to gift a scrunchie to a woman in their life who inspires them. Whether it’s a mentor, a friend, or a family member, this small gesture is a way to show gratitude and appreciation.

Community Engagement & Volunteer Recruitment – We’re looking to expand our team and bring in more passionate individuals who want to contribute to our mission. We’ll be setting up a Google Form, creating a hiring post, and designing posters to spread the word.

Reflection: Leading & Learning

Looking back on this workshop, I realized just how important it is to take time to reset, get organized, and make sure everyone’s on the same page. It’s easy to get caught up in planning events, pushing out fundraisers, and trying to grow, but at the end of the day, none of that happens without a strong team.

One of my biggest takeaways was how much clear communication matters. We broke down roles and responsibilities, but more than that, we made sure everyone felt confident in what they were bringing to the table. A title means nothing if you don’t feel like you actually have ownership over what you’re doing, and I want to make sure every exec feels like they have a role that matters.

I also realized how much collaboration fuels everything. It’s one thing to have ideas, but it’s another to have a team that’s just as excited to make them happen. Seeing my team step up with solutions, ask questions, and really take initiative reminded me why I love doing this.

This workshop made me reflect on why I started Trailblaze Youth in the first place. Leadership isn’t about a title—it’s about showing up, making an impact, and creating something bigger than yourself. Whether it’s hosting a workshop, mentoring someone, or even something as simple as handing out a scrunchie, every small thing adds up.
